This is a brainstorming note for developing possible Advent sermon series for future years (2023 and beyond). Advent series have either 4 or 5 messages typically. For us it’s has been four services since we do a Lessons and Carols service on the Sunday just after (or on) Christmas day. This year Christmas Eve falls on a Sunday and the following Sunday will be New Years Eve. We don’t have Christmas day or New Years day services at this point. It also happens to be the case that the Sunday before Advent traditionally starts is an open Sunday for us as our Ephesians Series should end the week prior. This simply means we could start Advent messages a week early if we want, or we can do a Thankfulness focused Sunday since the final Sunday in November falls after Thanksgiving.
